This Sausalito houseboat is an energy-efficient home with many green features.
A space-conserving on-demand water heater efficiently supplies the hot water for the radiant-heat floors and the rest of the household's water. The kitchen appliances are all energy star rated.
The south-facing windows warm the house in the winter, bring natural light into the interior, and vent out hot air in the summer.
The exterior has a metal roof and cementitious (non-wood) siding, both durable materials to stand up to extreme exposure.
"The (Annual Sausalito) Houseboat Tour was amazing and great fun. We had about 1,000 people come through and our place was a great hit - we love our home and are very proud of it."

Plans for this Occidental art studio are currently in the design stage.
It will be built with an earthen floor, FSC-certified wood framing, and recycled barn wood for the exterior siding.
The metal roof will have solar panels and collect rainwater for future use.
A north-facing wall of glass provides even, indirect lighting and south-facing clerestory windows help ventilate and bring in warm winter sun.
