I have a dual career – architecture and landscape design. Both disciplines inform my professional perspective and contribute to each of my projects.
The growing awareness of "green building" highlights the importance of site analysis and evaluation. My work has always been grounded in this connection between landscape and the built environment.
I opened my first professional studio as a landscape contractor in 1983 after an apprenticeship with the legendary Berkeley Landscape Architect David Bigham. It was in my work with him that I first developed a working knowledge of California native plants and soils that has informed my landscape work to this day.
I graduated from UCLA with a Master of Architecture in 1989 and began my architectural career working with Daniel L. Leibermann Associates, Kaplan and Kaplan Architects, and Morse and Cleaver Architects. Today my company designs good green homes integrated within their landscapes and aligned with principles of sustainability.
